During NOVA’s 20th Medical Mission in November 2015, NOVA collaborated with Arise & Walk Ministries Foundation, Inc. to provide dental care to our patients for the first time. The dental team was lead by Dr. Mayra Suero-Wade, DDS, MPH, Executive Director of Arise & Walk Ministries.
Since NOVA’s missions began, we have always seen a need for dental care and once our clinic opened, we had the ability to provide treatment space and medications.
Dental patients were pres-screened and organized by our staff in Haiti under the leadership of Dr. Nixon Altenord prior to the mission team’s arrival. This enabled the dental team to have an organized flow of patients. Dr. Wade’s team arrived with NOVA’s team on Sunday and provided dental care to our patients for two days before moving to another missionary location on Wednesday.
We are excited about this new chapter of NOVA’s mission and the expansion of the services NOVA provides to the community. We are very grateful to Dr. Wade and her team and to Arise & Walk Ministries for their continued support of NOVA.
